Did the transfer take? Baby Watch 2020- HCG Levels

On October 5th, we transferred one of our baby embryos to our amazing carrier (GC) in hopes that this second embryo was the one that would make us parents. After the transfer we had to wait 9 days to see if the pregnancy was viable. THE LONGEST NINE DAYS OF MY LIFE… to date.

The GC and I agreed not to do pee tests this time around until the weekend so we didn’t become obsessive last time. Last time the pee tests told us we were pregnant and it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy, a pregnancy loss very early after implementation. After the last loss, I couldn’t handle the excitement of thinking we were pregnant than being let down. We felt so good about this time that when the pee tests came back dark we are over the moon. The GC continued to stick test for the week and on October 14th, I got the phone call from the RE’s (reproductive endocrinologist) nurse. WE ARE PREGNANT! Our HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), a hormone produced by the placenta that predicts pregnancy and tells your body which hormones to produce, was 136!!!!!!! To put this number in perspective, our first HCG was 28 that ended in a chemical pregnancy.

We did a few more HCG tests that proved this baby was viable! The number nearly doubled each time which is exactly what it’s supposed to do! We are a go! It’s official, we are pregnant! Next step, Heart Beat Confirmation!
